John V. Shankweiler career retrospective scrapbooks, 1950 - 1973

 Item — Box: 2
Identifier: 2

Scope and Contents

Both volumes contain photographs, newspaper clippings, dedication programs, College promotional brochures, alumni magazines, and more. Volume I appears to have been compiled in the early 1950s. It is not arranged chronologically: it contains personal memorabilia such as reciepts for automobiles from the 1920s, and a program for 1915 "Class Day" exercises at Shankweiler's teachers college, Keystone State Normal School. The majority of the material in Volume I dates from 1930 through the mid-1960s, and tell the story of events at Muhlenberg during that period. Volume II primarily dates from 1964-1974, and contains many laudatory mentions of Dr. Shankweiler during his later career, including content related to the dedication of the Shankweiler Biology Building in 1970.
