Allentown Band Scrapbooks

Scope and Contents This collection contains eight twentieth-century scrapbooks compiled by members of the Allentown Band. They contain newspaper clippings, programs, letters, photographs, and other ephemera relating to performances, guest performers, and conductors, and provide a window into the role the Band played in the local and national music scene.

Scope and Contents The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings of such events and other coverage of the club as well as photographs of members, correspondence with the wives club at Lafayette College, and club documents including their constitution and member lists. Some of the events include a talk by Planned Parenthood, an “April Fool Dance,” a “Hobo Dance,” a talk on “Current Fashions,” and etiquette lessons. Most of the pages are decorated with paintings and drawings.
