Scope and Contents

This photo album includes student groups, campus buildings, a dormitory, and a fraternity house. It also includes athletic events, mainly track and field, and spectators. Other photos show a bonfire and travel scenes. One photo is of Dr. Wackernagle sitting outdoors watching the junior play.

Biographical / Historical

Charles H. Esser (1892-1959), a native of Kutztown, graduated in 1913 with a Bachelor of Philosophy degree. Nicknamed "Chollie", he was active in college athletics, especially basketball. He also participated in the Euterpean Literary Society, Keystone Club, Ciarla and Weekly publications, class leadership positions, and Delta Theta. After graduation, he became president of the Kutztown Publishing Company, his father's business. An active alumnus, he served as President of the Alumni Association and President of the Board of Directors. In 1956 he received an honorary Litt. D. from Muhlenberg College.
