Scope and Contents

This scrapbook contains newspaper clipppings and ephemera relating to student activities such as the "Freshman Pole Fight", Alpha Tau Omega fraterity, athetic events, Glee Club, and Knutte Klubb. Includes ticket stubs, dinner programs, telegram, lodging receipt, dance cards, railroad ticket, permit to escort ladies, athletic ribbon. Photographs inculde campus buildings and grounds, football games, student groups, and friends.

Biographical / Historical

Henry Sherman Oberly, (1898-1967) known as "Sherm", graduated from Muhlenberg College in 1920. At Muhlenberg he was active in Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and the Glee Club. He received his Ph. D. at the University of Pennsylvania in 1924 and became a faculty member there. He served as Dean of Admissions at the University of Pennsylvania and President of Roanoke College in Virginia.
