Scope and Contents

This collection of photographic prints features Muhlenberg College landscape and architecture, interior and exterior of buildings, students, and professors during the 1930s. Many are candid photos of students including football games and fraternity brothers. Included are prints of the marching band and commencement.

Biographical / Historical

John Hollenbach, a member of the class of 1934, was active as a brother of Phi Kappa Tau, president of the honorary fraternity Omicron Delta Kappa, and heavily involved in Mask and Dagger and debate. Hollenbach went on to earn a master’s degree from Columbia in 1935 and a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin in 1941. He became a professor of English and active member of the Hope College community before his death in 1998.

156 Photographic Prints : Album is 7-1/2" W x 9" L x 1-1/2" D, bound in black cloth; upper hinge splitting. 142 of the photographs are attached to the pages. 14 photographs are laid in.
