Scope and Contents

Two ringbound notebooks (one disbound) contain photographs, clippings, and programs relating to theatre performances at Muhlenberg College, primarily in 1942. Of particular focus is the Muhlenberg Bicentennial Pageant of 1942. Additionally, the collection contains two copies of the pageant script written by Dr. John D.M. Brown. One typescript is unannotated; the other is Albee's personal copy.

Historical Note

The Muhlenberg Bicentennial commemorated the two-hundredth anniversary of the arrival in America of Henry Melchior Muhlenberg. It was held at Muhlenberg College from May 24 to June 1, 1942. The pageant "For God and Country," was performed daily. Students, faculty and administrators and their families, and local Allentown residents all participated.
