Biographical / Historical
Pride of the Lehigh Valley was formed in 1993 by a small group of residents who were inspired while attending the 1993 March on Washington, and recognized the need to provide a much needed positive and welcoming atmosphere for the Lehigh Valley LGBTQ+ community. It was an all-volunteer organization dedicated to building safe inclusive communities in eastern Pennsylvania. The members put together the Lehigh Valley’s first Pride on Sunday, June 5, 1994, and first queer film festival in the early 2000s. In October 2003, the organization changed its name to Pride of the Greater Lehigh Valley, and in September 2017, they merged with the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center.
