Series I contains over two hundred letters written by Al Colarusso to various family members and friends during his time in the USAAF. The bulk of letters are from Colarusso to his family at 408 N. 7th Street, Allentown, PA.

Letters to his family from before going on furlough that continue to talk of training and how he'll be an officer soon. Letters sent from returning from furlough mention being homesickand how he is beginning training for being a bombadier, went to Mexico, and has been placed in a crew.
