Scope and Contents
           
             This large photograph album contains images of all aspects of life at Muhlenberg in the 1930s, beginning at a point when Dr. Shankweiler had been teaching at the College for about 10 years. The album contains a mix of formal campus views of buildings and people, some of which were not personally taken by Shankweiler, but the bulk of the images provide a personal record of the man and his circle of people and interests.
Subjects include tennis (teams and individual players) and other athletic teams; Commencements; theatre performances; Muhlenberg at Christmas; Phi Kappa Tau; reunions; science labs; a German Club dance; football practices; men and women swimming; faculty families; Levering Tyson's inauguration as president; and the tug-of-war contest.
